  Wilbert M. Curtis

Honorable Brother Wilbert M. Curtis has been selected the Phylaxis Society’s Man of the Year for 2007. Brother Curtis has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Phylaxis Society during the year. His personal involvement with the affairs of the Society has resulted in a spurt of growth of new members in Texas, so much so that membership in the state has jumped from tenth place behind California, Maryland, and others, to first place among all Masonic Jurisdictions. He has inspired his members to form a new Phylaxis Chapter in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and other chapters are in the planning stage. We salute Brother Curtis for his dedicated efforts.

Brother Wilbert M. Curtis was born and grew up in Temple, Texas and currently resides in Hewitt, Texas. He is the son of Henry Lee and Bennett Bonner Curtis. He is married to LaNell Carroll Curtis. He has one daughter, Valerie Curtis Robertson, and a grandson, Silas Robertson, II. He is a member of Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Waco, Texas. He was ordained a Deacon in 1987 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Waco, Texas. Showing leadership through works and not lip service, he believes in leading by example and not asking someone to do something that he himself hadn't done or won't do. He is a graduate of Temple High School. He believes in continuing education as he has acquired an A.A.S. Degree in Computer Science - McLennan Community College, B.S. Degree in Organizational Management - Paul Quinn College. He always tries to do his best to provide leadership for his family first then others. He always promotes education and career advancement.

Bro. Curtis currently serves as the Twenty-First Grand Master of the Prince Hall Masons of Texas. He is a Past Master of St. James Lodge #71, Past Commander-in-Chief of Ed Blair Consistory #286, Past Joshua of Rising Sun Court #150, H.O.J., a chartered member of Shiphrah O.E.S. Chapter #54. He is a member of the Knights of Pythagoras Youth Fraternity. On October 9, 2005, Bro. Curtis was coronated a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, which is the Thirty-Third and last degree in Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction. He was elected Illustrious Grand Auditor on October 10, 2006. Bro. Curtis is a member of Epsilon Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and a member of McLennan County N.A.A.C.P. Chapter. He is a member of Fishpond Toast Masters Club (Toast Masters International). Bro. Curtis is a Project Manager in Development Services Division of Information Systems, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Company. He has been employed with this company since April 1, 1976 in different positions in the Information Systems Department. They include Computer Operator, Applications Programmer, Systems Programmer, Network Supervisor and Lead Applications Analyst.
