We have several projects working that promise to be of assistance to Masonic researchers.
The first is the Historical Sites Program. Each of our members and subscribers can help us with this one. Every Masonic structure, past and present, must be recorded as a historical or potential historical site (we never know). Our intent is to accumulate a national database of all such sites, to include the burial sites of notable Masons as well as monuments erected to Masons. The Director of Historical Sites and his Deputy Director are charged with getting this program underway.
We are in the process of creating a database of the Phylaxis Magazines. This database will be searchable. It will include thumbnail images of each magazine cover and a short synopsis of each article in each issue along with key words that will aid in a search. The program is under the administration of the Director of Digital Archives and his Deputy Director.
We are doing intensive research into the history of Prince Hall and the institution that bears his name. When we are done we intend to produce a definitive film documentary on the history of Prince Hall Masonry. This project is under the direction of the Director of Special Projects.
Would your lodge be interested in any of the following achievements?
• Gain a reputation for community involvement
• Reach out to youth of all races
• Encourage the study of Black History
• Promote cultural diversity
• Publicize the story of Prince Hall
• Introduce the community to your Masonic lodge
If so, you will want to purchase an outstanding special edition of the Phylaxis Magazine that provides a road map to achieving each of these goals. Because this edition of the magazine deviates slightly from the editorial policy of the Society and because of the expense of printing in full color, we have been seeking a special grant in order to fund the printing and distribution of this special edition. Thus far, we have not been able to find a sponsor (we welcome assistence from anyone who can recommend a sponsor).
The focus of this special edition is to show lodges and chapters how to set up Black History Exhibits at local schools and libraries during Black History Month and how to exploit the public relations benefits that come with such an endeavour.
Because we have been unsuccessful in attracting outside funding for this project, we are asking that you help us by donating $5.00 toward printing this special edition. All monies collected in this way will be held in reserve until we have accumulated enough to fund the printing. Those who doante will be first in line to receive the printed version.
